Lyner Barsett
Hey, can't we stop fighting?
It's such a small world.
Main character and hero of Ar Tonelico. Lyner is a young man who has a very strong sense of justice. He defies his fathers wishes and becomes a knight, even though his father, who is the commander, wishes for him to hold the same position as himself someday and enter into politics. He was born in Platina, which is an area that resides in the upper level of the Tower. When disaster strikes Platina, Lyner sets off to the lower lands [the lands most normal people live in on the ground ] in search of a certain item to save the people of Platina.

A beautiful young woman who always seem to carry around a gloomy smile. Her speech also generally comes across as being timid. However, if you were to look beyond this, you would see that she is a very caring individual that tries her best to aid those around her. She is a mix between a human and a Reyvateil. She currently works for the Elemia Church and is a canidate for the title of Holy Maiden.

Hey Lyner... If I wasn't myself anymore, would you still...?
At first she seems like a cute, simple-minded young girl, but if you were to spend time with her, you would realize she is quite knowlegable. She has many 'secret' talents, one that is most apparent being that she is skilled at picking almost any type of lock. She is also a Reyvateil. Not only that, but she is a very rare type of Reyvateil, known as a B-Type, having pure blood with strong innate powers. When diving into her soulspace, Lyner meets with Misha's true form, a more mature looking young woman.

A wandering gunman Lyner meets when he first makes it to the lower lands. At first this man doesn't believe that Lyner's crashed airship is his, but after hearing Lyner's name and that he is from Platina, Jack gets interested and begins to believe him. Jack mostly just wanders from town-to-town and picks up odd jobs to support himself, though he does appear to have an ultimate goal, the details of which are shrouded in mystery.

A smart-talking young woman who is an expert at Grathmeld engineering. She specilizes in airships and has so far built three of her own. When you meet her she is looking for parts in order to build and repair her airships and further her knowledge on the subject. She also doesn't seem to like Misha, the two of them exchanging snark remarks to one another even as they work together as a team.

There are more important things than the Goddesses' descent, right in front of us!
A knight and priest from the Church of Elemia. He is the highest rank of all the warriors on the church, thus he is named the Cardinal as he has the high rank of the commander. He is a very serious man, but along with this, he also happens to be very stubborn and will not take back the words that he says easily.
