[Shows a scene of a beautiful beach, Zack in trunks doing excercises. Cissnei comes down some stairs] Cissnei: Suntan lotion? Zack: No, nevermind, that! What is this? Are they putting me out to pasture? Cissnei: You could use some R&R. Zack: I'm bored! That's it, I'm calling them. Cissnei: Director Lazard's not in. He's been missing for awhile now. It was Lazard who was funding Hollander's research. Using the company's money. Zack: Are you serious? Cissnei: We're interrogating Hollander, so we should learn more soon. Zack: ...What's wrong with them? Cissnei: Hm? Zack: People. What are they all thinking? Cissnei: The truth lies within each person. But even truth seems suspect once it leaves their mouths... Zack: Cissnei, go do something. Cissnei: Calling Aerith? Zack: How do you know that? Am I being watched? Cissnei: No, she's the one being watched. That girl is an Ancient. The only one left in the world. You didn't know? Zack: She...never said anything. The only one left in the world, huh... She is one of a kind. [something flashes and Tseng runs out] Tseng: Heads up! Genesis copies! [they pop out of the water, Zack grabs an Umbrella to battle with] Zack: Genesis copies!? [after battle] Zack: These guys are still around? But Genesis... Tseng: ...Maybe Genesis is still around, too. Zack: Huh? Tseng: When the soul leaves the body, it returns to the lifestream. Zack: Yeah, and...? Tseng: The river of souls that circles our planet. Perhaps Genesis's soul is... Zack: Controlling copies from the lifestream? Is this what you're telling me? Tseng: It was merely a supposition. In any case, your vacation is over, Zack. Junon is under attack by an unknown force. You're going there with me to investigate. [Zack runs off and follows Tseng. Screen goes black. Then it shows Junon with Cissnei and Tseng with Zack. People are running and there are fires] Zack: This is terrible! Genesis copies here, too! They're just running wild! [Zack quickly disposes of the clopies] Tseng: Hollander is currently in Junon. His prescence here and this attack can't be unrelated. Zack: It's not over, is it? Tseng: We'll begin evacuating the residents. Zack, you find Hollander and make sure he's kept safe. Zack: you're making me babysit Hollander? Don't you think I'd be put to better use on the battlefield? Tseng: Hollander has access to top-secret information. The president insists that his saftey be priority one. After Director Lazard's sudden dissapperance, SOLDIER's chain of command has been shaky at best. This attack is an attempt to exploit that weakness. Zack, you must protect Hollander. Cissnei: Hollander is currently being held in a detention center on the 8th level of Upper Junon. You can use the emergency elevator to go up. It's at the end of this path. Zack, we're counting on you. Tseng: Hollander is still being interrogated. He can't fall into enemy hands now. Zack: Understood. [After defeating many copies and going up the elevator] SOLDIER 3rd Class: Hollander has escaped the detention center! Zack: What!? They attacked the detention center? 3rd: No, but security was spread thin after the attacks in the city, and he used that opportunity to escape. Zack: So, he found a way to escape on his own!? 3rd: The timing of the attack was just too perfect. It's very possible that Hollander was getting outside help. Zack: Which way did Hollander go? 3rd: Security cameras on the 6th level have a positive identification of Hollander. This just happens to be in the 6th level, so he should be somewhere ahead. Lower Junon and Upper Junon are connected by a centra passageway. To proceed to Upper Junon where Hollander is, open the central passageway gate and go straight. The large gates can be opened by pressing a switch. Zack: Thanks. If you can tend to the wounded, it'll be a great help. 3rd: Certainly! Zack: Meanwhile, I'll go protect Hollander from himself! [Zack fights on, and ends up chasing Hollander. He beats up a machinee and then meets up Tseng and a bunch of SOLDIER's. There, he meets Cloud... Well, talks to Cloud as an npc] Zack: Hey, are you all right? Cloud: Y-yeah... On the helicopter... I got a little nauseous... Zack: Hey, you're Cloud! Cloud: Wow, you remembered me. Zack: Of course I remember! I'm happy to be working with you again. Cloud: Yeah, although my work is a little dull. Zack: What are you talking about? Rescue work is an important task! Anyway, once we're all done, let's go grab a bite to eat -- my treat. Cloud: Really? That would be great! Once I'm feeling better, I'd love to go. But right now... Just thinking about food is making me... Uggh... I'm sorry, Zack. Zack: Ha ha! Don't worry about it. Hope you feel better. [after a loooong while longer and many enemy encounters, Zack finally gets to Hollander!!] Zack: That's far enough! Hollander: Really? You sure? Zack: Hey! [Hollander falls off of the side of the bridge] Zack: What is he...? [Genesis copies grab the scientist and fly off with him] Zack: Tch! Should have known... [Turks and everyone run over to Zack] Sephiroth: Mission failed. This goes on your permanent record. Zack: Sephiroth! Long time no see! Sephiroth: Let the Turks take care of the rest. I was on mt way to Modeoheim, but I heard you were in the area. Zack: Lucky me. Sephiroth: The situation has not resolved. Genesis copies have been sighted around the world. Zack: That can't be! We wiped out those Genesis copies. Sephiroth: Did Genesis really die? Zack: Uh... Sephiroth: They've been sighted in Midgar as well. Zack: I see... The slums, too. Sephiroth: Permission to return...granted. Zack: Uh, yeah... Sephiroth: Take care. Zack: You too. [pause] Hey, what's going on in Modeoheim? Sephiroth: The device Hollander was using has been stolen. Zack: ...Genesis? Sephiroth: Probably. We'll meet again soon. Zack: I'll hold you to that. [Zack walks off] [goes to a clip of Genesis] Genesis: My friend, your desire is the bringer of life, the gift of the goddess Legend shall speak of sacrifice at world's end The wind sails over the water's surface Quietly, but surely [End of Chapter] |
