Basic Profile
Rikku is a young Al Bhed Girl. The Al Bhed are a tribe of people in Spira. These people speak a unique language and use machina. Machina are forbidden in the Teachings of Yevon, therefor, the Al Bhed people are shunned in the world of Spira and are often attacked with physical and verbal remarks from the other citizens of the world. The Al Bhed mainly live hidden in the desert away from everyone else in order to hide from the hate around them.
Rikku is first introduced at he beginning of the game. After Tidus somehow makes it to Spira, Rikku rescues him. Well, sorta. Her and her other Al Bhed friends knock Tidus out and bring him to their ship and order him to work - which he does, of course, since he is left with no other choice. After they explore a nearby sunken ship, Rikku introduces herself to Tidus and shares some much needed information on the world of Spira to him. Tidus is left quite confused. Sin does attack their ship and Tidus falls into the waters below. However, the two of them meet up again later in the game.
 
Personality
Rikku can basically be described as happy-go-lucky. She is a very cheerful and carefree person. She is kind to those around her and tries to do what she thinks is best.Her upbeat personality keeps everyone a little less tense about their current situation. She tries to keep the most positive attitude she can get. Sometimes, though, she can get a bit emotional. She has strong beliefs and nobody can change her mind. She is strong-willed and determined.
Possibly Spoiling Information
Rikku grew up in the Al Bhed tribe. She was born to her father, Cid and her mother - a woman who was related to Yuna's mother, which makes Rikku and Yuna cousins. This also goes without saying that Yuna has Al Bhed blood running within her. When Rikku was young she was struck by lightning in the water while she was swimming. This led to a great deal of pain and agony and ever since Rikku has been quite afraid of lightning and thunder.
Lately, Rikku has been venturing spira in order to kidnap Yuna and other summoners to prevent them from performing the final summoning. The Al Bhed are doing this because they believe it is wrong for one to sacrifice their lives in this way. Thus, Rikku does kidnap Yuna, and eventually meets back up with Tidus and the gang, where Rikku explains to Tidus just what she is doing later on. Tidus totally agrees and the two of them attempt to come up with a solution together in order to save Yuna.
