Basic Profile
Tidus is the main character of this game. He's a star Blitzball player from the glorious city of Zanarkand - a city that never sleeps and is always bustling with activity. Tidus has many fans that range from little kids to young woman and even old folks. He is very talented at what he does and this is shown everytime he enters the blitzball area with his hoards of fans screaming and cheering for him.
His father, Jecht, was also a blitzball player before him, so Tidus basically followed in his father's footsteps. Was he proud of his father? Definitely not! Tidus hated his father and disliked the way he acted and treated him and his mom. Tidus felt that Jecht was trying to steal his mother's attention away from him and his father would always tease him when he was a young child, thus Tidus developed some loathe for his father. To top it off, Jecht dissappeared 10 years earlier, leaving Tidus' mother devestated which eventually led to her death from grief over her husband's loss.
At the start of the game, Tidus can be seen getting ready for a blitzball game. He signs some autographs for fans and then ventures into the arena. All goes well until something strange happens - the arena is attacked by an unknown force. What is shown is a terrible creature, one that begins to destroy the entire city. At this time, Tidus meets a mysterious man that he has known for awhile by the name of Auron. Auron explains the 'thing' that attacked the city, giving it the name of sin. confused, Tidus is forced into battle against Sin. Eventually, as the city is being completely destroyed, Auron sends Tidus off somewhere - with Tidus, of course, scared to death.
Tidus ends up stranded in a mysterious place, cold and alone. As he ventures through he meets Rikku, an Al-Bhed girl. She leads him to her ship with other members of Al-Bhed and forces Tidus to work. Here Rikku asks Tidus about himself, and she mentions Zanarkand. Rikku mentions to Tidus that Zanarkand was destroyed 1,000 years ago. Surprised, Tidus doesn't understand what this means. Soon after, he is thrust from the ship and ends up on the Isle of Besaid, where he meets the Summoner Yuna, and begins his journey to uncover the 'truth' about this 'destroyed Zanarkand' and to hopefully return back home.
 
Personality
Tidus develops quite a bit as the game progresses. In the beginning it can be seen that he is carefree and a flirt - as he does seem to hit on the ladies before his Blitzball game. He can be called a "crybaby" and even his father had called him this in the past. He is very emotional - compared to that of the stereotypical male. He often gets upset and highstrung when he does not understand what is going on around him and isn't the type that stays calm and collective. He does care about those around him, especially the summoner Yuna. As the game progresses, he begins to develop an emotional attachment to Yuna and becomes less childlike and more like a mature adult, due to the hardships he faces on the journey. He does stay emotional, but not nearly to the extent he was before the journey.
Possibly Spoiling Information
When in Zanarkand, Tidus learns from Auron that his father, Jecht, went on a pilgrimage with Yuna's father, Lord Braska, 10 years previously. Upon Jecht's request, Auron looked after Tidus for the past ten years and brought him to Zanarkand. Auron also tells Tidus that Jecht is Sin. Surprised, Tidus doesn't want to believe that "his old man" is Sin. It couldn't be possible, could it?! During the game, however, Tidus does come to terms with this and realizes that Auron has no reason to lie to him.
They continue their journey. Upon hearing that a summoner dies when facing Sin and performing the Final Summoning, Tidus becomes hysterical! He was not going to allow Yuna to die, thus, when they reached the ruined city of Zanarkand, they face-off against Yunalesca and defeat her. All was not lost, as the party, with the help of the Al-Bhed, ventured into Sin. When they got into the inner portion of Sin, Tidus met with Jecht and the two of them spoke for the final time before Tidus was forced to kill his father. During this time, Tidus cries, and declares he is actually proud to have Jecht for his father. Afterwards, the team does defeat Yu Yevon - the mastermind behind Sin.
After the defeat, everything seems happy, but Tidus begins to fade as he was only a dream - a dream of the fayth. With Sin destroyed and the fayth no longer existing, Tidus would no longer, either. Yuna shared one last word with Tidus, stating "I love you" before Tidus dissappeared.
