Basic Profile
Yuna is a young summoner from Besaid Island. She has lived in Besaid for the past ten years with her two best friends Wakka and Lulu. The three of them basically grew up together and were liked older sibilings to the young summoner. Yuna also stays in Besaid protected by Kimahri - a member of the Ronso tribe that protects Yuna with unmeasurable loyalty.
Ten years ago Yuna lived in Bevelle with her father, the high summoner Lord Braska. He mother had fallen ill and died many years earlier, so the two of them lived together happily. That is, until Braska decided to go on a journey to defeat Sin. Braska did succeeded, but also ended up losing his life. On the day of the celebration of the defeat of Sin, there were many parades and celebration in the town of Bevelle, but Yuna was the only one who was crying. Kimahri was there, however, and by the request of Braska took Yuna to the Besaid Island where she currently resides.
When Tidus first comes to Besaid Yuna had also just became an official summoner which meant she could start a pilgrimage of her own in order to defeat Sin. Following in her father's footsteps the young summoner had a big legacy to live up to. She wanted to free the people of Spira of the burden of Sin, and wished for everyone to live happily. Thus, Tidus becomes one of her guardians, along with Kimahri, Lulu, and Wakka - the five of them set out for their journey.
Personality
Yuna is a strong-willed young woman that has an incredible amount of determination to defeat Sin. She wishes to free Spira of suffering and will do anything it takes to accomplish the task. Not only that, but she could possibly be the kindest and most gentle person one could ever meet. She is nice to everyone, always polite, and never rude no matter what the cercumstance. She lives to help others and wishes for the well being of everyone around her. As a result, she tends to bottle up emotions and not let anyone else see how she truly feels inside, thus, she tends to try not to rely on others so that she does not become a 'burden' in her mind.
Possibly Spoiling Information
During the game Yuna is asked by Seymour Guado for her hand in marriage. Yuna believes that it would be the best thing for the people of Spira, because she believes it will make them happy to see the daughter of Lord Braska and the leader of the Guado to unite in a marriage ceremony. Thus, she decided to accept this offer on her own, even against the opinions of her guardians. However, she does find a sphere, one that indicates that Seymour had killed her father, thus her accepting the marriage was actually a ploy for her to kill Seymour Guado. She keeps this information to herself, though, not letting the guardians know. They do find out, though, as she accidently drops the sphere, thus her guardians rush in to her aid to protect her and they do manage to kill Seymour. Doing so, they are branded as traitors and the heads of the church destroy the evidence from the sphere.
Yuna continues on her journey and is kidnapped. While she is gone, Tidus learns the agonizing truth that when a summoner summons the final summon that he/she is killed by their power. Tidus will not have it and goes rushing off, looking for Yuna. He finds her in Bevelle, forced into a wedding ceremony with Seymour Guado - who of course, is now dead and an unsent. The guardians rescue her and she continues on the pilgrimage, with Tidus and Rikku determined to find a way to save her.
When they reach Zanarkand, Yuna rejects the final summoning and they fight and defeat Lady Yunalesca, who is an unsent. Determined, they end up going straight inside Sin and destroy Yu Yevon himself - which perminately destroys Sin. Sadly, in doing this, the fayth dissappear, and so does Tidus as he was a "Dream of the Fayth."
Yuna is the main character of Final Fantasy X-2 as well.
