No matter what you think of this game, love or hate, you can't deny the fact that this game brought the Final Fantasy series into the spotlight. Not to mention, it helped introduce an entire country of gamers to the wonders of the Japanese RPG.
The story focuses on a resistance group by the name of AVALANCHE. This resistance group's goal is to stop the various Mako reactors around the large city of Midgar. These reactors are giant sources of energy, or rather, they take energy from the planet and use it as power. What isthe problem with this? The problem is that when energy is used from the planet, more specifically, from the lifestream, it drains life from the planet. The planet has a cycle. When things die they go to the lifestream and keep the current of the planet running properly in the circle of life, but when the life is drained from the planet, it is lost, which has a great effect on the planet.
At the beginning of the game AVALANCHE is about to destroy one of these reactors. Joining them is a young mercenary by the name of Cloud Strife. But Cloud is no ordinary mercenary, he is also an ex SOLDIER, an elite branch of military.
