Pillar

When you get to the Sector 7 Slums main area, you'll see that there is an assault going on at the Tower. Aeris will leave the party for now and Cloud and Tifa will climb up the tower to meet with Barret. Head up and then Barret will join the party. Make sure to equip him as there will be a boss battle!

Reno will use Pyramind, which will encase a party member in a pyramid that will make it so the character cannot act in battle. This is easily fixed as it will be destroyed with one physical attack, so have one of your other characters attack it. Use limit breaks in this battle, free characters from pyramind, and eventually Reno will run off.

The Aftermath

After escaping, the three of them will go to Aeris' house and check on Marlene. You'll learn a few things about Aeris while at her house and learn you'll need to go rescue here at the Shinra Corporation main building. So, take a treck back to the wall Market.

[Note, if you didn't take 5 gil from the boy before in sector 5, talk to him to get a Turbo Ether before going to Wall Market]

In Wall Market, the materia shop is open. You'll want to head to the weapon shop and talk to the main there, who you can buy batteries from. Yes, but some batteries. After, head north toward Don's mansion then go right, where you see some kids playing around a wall with various graffitti scribbled on it.

Climbing up

Climbing up to the tower is a very simplistic process. Simply put the batteries into the sockets and climb up to the next path. Of course, there will be many little tricks along the way, but overall, it should cause no problems.
