This page will guide you through the first part of the Deep Sea Research Sidequest - getting Bahamut. You can complete this sidequest anytime after you get the airship - Ragnarok - in your possession.
Finding the Center
Finding this place can be difficult - it doesn't show up on your map. The Deep sea research center is located all the way near the bottom left corner of the map. It doesn't show up on the map but its there. Just head to the left corner and you should see it. You have to land on top of it. If you want to go ahead and do the second half of the quest after getting Bahamut, do be sure to include Zell in your party, as it's the one way you can get down the ladder after you defeat Bahamut. But, it is not neccessary, because you can defeat Bahamut without Zell.
The Big Blue Light
When you first enter the center, you'll notice a big blue light that glows on and off. Just walk up to the core part.. ehhh!!!! wrong its not totally that easy, but then again it can be. See every time you move when the light is on, you will be rushed into a battle. So only walk when the light is not on, and becareful it can trick you some times. Encounter none or Encounter half do not work! If you manage to get to the center of the core Bahamut will speak to you and ask several questions. After each answer you will be forced to fight a ruby dragon. The answers to questions are below:
Bahamut: " So you wish to Challenge me..." Choose: " It is not our will to fight."
Bahamut: "Begging for Mercy?" Choose: "Never"
Bahamut: "Damned imbeciles. Why do you wish to fight?" Choose: There is 3rd option below, "None of your business" its hidden.
After you answer the 3 questions you will be taken to the boss fight with Bahamut.
Fighting Bahamut
This battle isn't really that tough. Depending on what your level is Bahamut can have any where from 10,800-90,000 HP. You can start the fight by casting blind on him. This will help the fight a lot since he wont be able to hit you with physical attacks. The only thing you have to worry about is its magic attacks. His Ultimate attack for sure. When he does Mega Flare on you it can take out around 4,000 HP. Casting Shell on your characters can help reduce this, Also take the chance to draw curaga from him and heal your self. You can Attack Bahamut with your Best GFs but do not use Ifrit, Brothers, and Quezacotl. Shiva works very well Also use Aura spells so you can get your characters limit breaks. This helps allot. After a while you should get the best of him, and he will join you.
