The Cactuar Island is a small little Island near Esthar where you can get the GF Cactuar. Below is info about the sidequest!
Getting Cactuar
So you want to get the Cactuar GF? Well Its simple in a matter. But first you gota find cactuar island.You can find it on the south east corner of the Esthar Continent. If your having trouble finding it just look for a green figure popping its head out that sand! That's Jumbo Cactuar and defeating him means getting the 2nd Strongest GF in the game. So before you go off and fight prepare for battle first, cause he can be tough.
Prepare for battle
Jumbo Cactuar has a maximum of 60,000 hp and is weak against water. Set your characters up so they have water junctioned to their Elemental attack. If you have the revive or recover abilities equip them to separate characters. Jumbo Cactuar has an attack called 10,000 Needles that can eliminate one character by taking out 10,000 HP. Also be sure you have some life and full life spells on all characters.
Fighting Jumbo Cactuar
As soon as the battle starts bust out a Meltdown on Jumbo Cactuar to lower its defense. Use one Character as a heal person, one as as summoner, and the other as an attacker.
First off I cast meltdown on him, then I use aura on Squall and keep Selphie as a healer. I have Leviathan equipped to Zell, and I Constantly use him. I constantly do Squalls Renzokuken. and heal or revive with Selphie if needed. This works pretty well for me.
You can't waste time when fighting Jumbo Cactuar. If you do he will escapes, and you'll have to fight him all over again, and guess what, His HP is back to Normal. When you see the message Jumbo Cactuar is Hesitating, that means he's thinking about running away, so hurry up and kill him before he does. When you beat him you will receive the Cactuar GF.
Fighting Tip
If you have Squalls Strongest weapon Lionheart, then this fight can be a breeze. Just use Aura on squall and do Renzokuken, and Hope that he follows up with Lionheart. This will kill Jumbo Cactuar instantly if you caste meltdown on him at the beginning of the fight.
