Game Information

Persona 3, without a doubt, is one of the most unique RPG games out there. The Playstation 2 might be coming close to the end of it's life, but with this game having came out at this time, it shows that the system is far from dead, and possibly the most compelling and fun RPG to have ever hit the system -- or any other, for that matter -- has finally seen the light of day.

If there was one game that I could recommend, and one game only, without a doubt I would recommend playing Persona 3. Yes, in my opinion, it is better than any Final Fantasy game. Gasp! Shock! Awe! Well, at least if you are a hard-core Final Fantasy fan you cannot understand how a game could be more compelling than your beloved series, but drift away from the mindset of being an FF Fanboy/girl for just a moment and try this game, and without a doubt you'll be pleased!

Most RPG's realy don't have a whole lot to them other than racing from point A to point B with acouple of random sidequests that leave much to be desired [usually] thrown in, but with this game, it isn't just the matter of saving the world, it's also about going to school every morning, making friends, joining clubs, studying hard for your exams and doing well, and even -- yes -- getting a girlfriend... or two...or perhaps even three if you are daring.

There are dating sim aspects thrown in, but this game is not at all trashy. If anything, I would say it's incredibly cute. It's not all about the girlfriends when forming relationships. You see, there are various social links in this game, all linked to a different character. The social link basically acts as a tie between two different characters. Basically, the closer your character becomes to another, the higher the social link becomes, which will grant your character more power in battle. [more on that later!] In order to do this, you must simply hang out with them! On the days they are free, usually after school -- or if they call you up to ask you to go to the movies with them or whatnot -- and your social link will go up after time. There isa bit more to it than just spending time. If you want to know more about this, just check out the content for this section. It'll be explained there.

What do social links have to do with the power the character has? Well, the character has 'personas' which are creatures that grant him power in battle. These basically give him all his stats and skills. There are many personas in the game and you have the ability to create them, and the higher the social links you have, the more power the personas you make with the corrseponding tarot will have when you make them. Forexample, if you have a high "Chariot" social link, you'll be able to make powerful "chariot" personas.

Most of the game will be spend strengthening social links, rasing yourstats - academics, charm, and courage, and of course, going to class. Of course, there are also battles, and you will do this at midnight whenever you please. Battles take place in a giant tower. The system is very fun, but that for sure is not the highlight of the game.

Though graphics aren't terribly good, I do not believe any other graphics would be effective in the game. If they were too realistic, the game would lose a lot of its charm.

So, want to know more? Research a little! Decide if this game is right for you. One thing is for certain, though, you are for sure not going to be let down by this game and it's addictiveness.
